“Sew N Sustain is Coming Soon to Tower Hamlets  Empowering the Community Through Creativity & Connection!”

Sew your way to better well-being

A Therapeutic Journey to Healing & Well-being

Sewing is more than just stitching fabric together—it’s a powerful tool for healing, mindfulness, and self-expression. The rhythmic motion of sewing helps calm the mind, reduce stress, and bring a sense of focus and relaxation. Whether you're creating something new, mending old garments, or upcycling fabric, sewing gives you a sense of purpose and achievement.

Every stitch is a step toward self-care and confidence, allowing you to express yourself in a way that words sometimes cannot. Plus, sewing in a community brings people together, fostering connection, support, and joy.

Shabana

Sewing Project Leader

As a Sewing Project Leader, my role is to empower and support the community through creativity, connection, and sustainability. My key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering sewing workshops, covering basic sewing, up cycling, mending, and dressmaking.
  •  Supporting participants by fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment that promotes mental well-being.
  • Encouraging sustainability by teaching fabric up cycling and eco-friendly sewing techniques.
  •  Promoting social connection, helping to reduce isolation among residents through group workshops and community projects.
  • Managing materials and resources to ensure workshops run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Collaborating with local organisations to expand outreach, build partnerships, and strengthen community support.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to participants of all skill levels, helping them develop confidence and new skills.

Through Sew N Sustain, I am dedicated to using sewing as a tool for healing, creativity, and empowerment, ensuring that everyone feels valued, connected, and supported.
